High River [p.9]

High River is a vibrant town just a half hour drive south of Calgary.  It is a friendly town and most of the amenities that you use everyday are available or just a short drive to Okotoks to Costco & Walmart and the big box stores. High River has a very pretty and walkable downtown with handy parking where you can enjoy coffee shops, restaurants, shopping & banking.

High River is very people oriented and warmly welcomes tourists and visitors and hosts many community events such as the Guy Weadick Professional Rodeo, Show & Shine Car Show, the Heritage Inn International Balloon Festival and one of the best small town Santa Claus parades.  The community boasts George Lane Park with a lovely town campground, Museum of the Highwood, links to the film industry and in particular the production Heartland is filmed in town where Maggie’s Diner is a spot for Heartland fans to visit.

Choices in homes vary by neighbourhood with many villa style homes geared to retirement living in the Northwest as well as single family homes built from the 1980’s onward, some of the original homes along McLeod Trail in the southwest date back to the early 1900’s and the southeast part of town is newer from the 1990’s and still building out.

High River is definitely a community to check out for your next home!
