Okotoks is a thriving community with a population upward of 30,000 residents and a short drive (approximately 15 minutes) south of Calgary. It is a wonderful family friendly town with amenities galore. Housing choices range from new builds in modern subdivisions, traditional mid-century homes to the original downtown area of historic homes. The beautiful Sheep River valley lends itself to outdoor activities and Okotoks has an abundance of walking trails and bike paths, community parks & playgrounds. Okotoks is a central shopping district for much of the Foothills area and features big box stores (Costco, Walmart, Canadian Tire, Winners, Future Shop, etc.), a choice of Grocery stores, Medical clinics, Emergency clinic (Okotoks Health & Wellness Centre), Dentists, Optometrists, Schools, Churches, Library & Cultural Centre to name a few.

Okotoks was established as a Town in 1904 and the name comes from the Blackfoot First Nation word for rock. There is speculation the name was given to the area because of the safe rocky river crossings on the Sheep River or The Big Rock – one of the Largest Glacial Erratics found west of Okotoks town site.
